Squadron 425 WW2 RCAF Halifax Bomber
  • katesmomkatesmom December 2010

My father-in-law, Ronald "Bud" Hamilton, is looking for a crew member from WW2, rear gunner Gord Harris with whom Dad lost contact with after a crash during training in Europe on May 18, 1944. Bud, then upper gunner, and Hugh Potts, the navigator, were injured, and the English Engineer D S Smith was killed. The crew were assigned to Squadron 425 and were sent into combat about a week after the crash, completing their tour on Sept 25, 1944, about the same time that Bud recovered from his back injury and was sent home to Canada. Dad recalls that Gord was about the same age, born 1924, and was from a farming town in Ontario. We have recently been in contact with the familes of the pilot, Norm Streight and the bomb aimer, Stu Duern and Dad has reconnected with the wireless operator, Roy Collins but no one knows what became of Gord after the war. If anyone has any information or suggestions on how to find Gord we would be forever greatful.

My Father, Donald Malcom Giffin was in RCAF 425. He took many pictures. Thought you might be interested.
