No. 450 squadron was a heavy transport squadron based at CFB Uplands (Ottawa) with a detachment at CFB Edmonton flying the CH-147 Chinook heavy lift helicopter. The Squadron was later split to form a second Chinook squadron at CFB Edmonton, No. 447 Squadron. Nos 450 and 447 Squadrons were disbanded in the early 1990s, when the Chinook was fased out.

No. 450 Squadron was reactivated on May 2, 2012 in prepartion for the arrival of 15 CH-147F Chinooks.  The squadron as part of  No. 1 Wing will be based at CFB Petwawa, Ontario.  The first Chinook should be delivered to Petawawa in June 2013.
